Your constitution, or mission statement, will guide decision making for your organisation. It will make clear what your intentions and goals are and how you plan to achieve them. Generally, the governing body will meet to draw up the mission statement or constitution. You may also invite other stakeholders to take part in this process.
For legal purposes, any organisation wishing to register as a NPO must submit its constitution when applying for registration. The Department of Welfare provides a model constitution as a guideline.
