Non-government action groups or initiatives

There are a number of civic action groups, organizations and movements that operate in the Health Sector in South Africa.

The following are a few them. For a directory that is relevant to your area, do a websearch in your area or visit any of the community Beehive sites in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban.

African Health Leadership Initiative

The African Health Leadership Initiative works to bridge the implementation gap between policy formulation and frontline action. It stimulates progress on national health priorities through project-based action, locally-grounded scaling and in-country leadership development. The Initiative recognizes and augments capacity that exists within national health systems – across Ministries of Health and among other government officials, clinicians, community-based service providers and within civil society and the private sector.
